The Internet Choke Act

You’ve heard the term: “What a difference a day makes?” Right.

I’ve got a new one for you: WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WORD MAKES!

Again. The Obama administration is playing “semantics” with us by changing the wording on the highly-unpopular Internet “Kill Switch” bill (from the last session of Congress) to the newly-improved “Cyber Security and Internet Freedom Act of 2011,” or “Internet Freedom Act” for short.

Don’t be fooled!! The CONTROL by Mr. Obama and his minions is still there! It’s all in the wording. The CHOKING of your Internet freedom is still in the new bill! Permit me to explain.

Organizations from the Tea Party on the right to the ACLU on the left were both “joined together” in unity against last year’s supposed “Kill Switch” Internet bill. In last year’s bill, people thought that the occupier of the Oval Office had the literal power to “switch” the Internet off. Not so.

However, in the new bill, the “switch” actually refers to the regulatory power of the established bureaucracy (controlled by Mr. Obama) over internet service providers.

Again, it’s still all about CONTROL by Barack Obama! He can still CHOKE off your Internet freedom by declaring a national cyber emergency!

The much-touted motive behind this new bill is to defend the United States against a cyber terrorist attack on our economic infrastructure. A “national cyber emergency” is:

“… an actual or imminent action by any individual or entity to exploit a cyber risk in a manner that disrupts, attempts to disrupt, or poses a significant risk of disruption to the operation of the information infrastructure essential to the reliable operation of covered critical infrastructure.”

What a difference the words make! Or do they?

To alleviate any fears from the left or the right, here’s the new bill’s wording to help build confidence that the federal government will not “kill switch” or “shut down the Internet” like Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak did. Here is the actual wording:

“… neither the President, the Director of the National Center for Cyber security and Communications, or any officer or employee of the United States Government shall have the authority to shut down the internet.”

If you read the fine print — and between the lines — you will find that this is just an untrue soothing assurance. The government will not be able to “SHUT DOWN” the internet, BUT they WILL BE ABLE to regulate, direct and shut down communications on and access to the internet. Later in the new bill, it says that the government shall be given the authority to “direct” internet service providers. BUT DON’T BE FOOLED BY THESE WORD CHANGES!

Your Internet can still be CHOKED OFF by the Administration.

A “national cyber emergency” can be declared by the President at any time. No one knows what that really means. It’s too ambiguous. Again, no real oversight of what those words really mean!

In spite of the new bill’s wording—

“Upon issuing a declaration… the President shall… notify the owners and operators of the specified critical infrastructure and any other relevant private sector entity of the nature of the national cyber emergency.”

“If the President issues a declaration… the Director shall immediately direct the owners and operators of covered critical infrastructure… to implement response plans.”

The bottom line: MR. OBAMA STILL HAS THE CONTROL ABILITIES OVER YOUR INTERNET FREEDOMS!

In reality, it is a total misnomer that the federal government cannot shut down the Internet! Again, the new wording was written by U.S. Senators’ Joe Lieberman (I-CT), Susan Collins (R-ME) and Tom Carper (D-DE) to help eliminate the “Kill Switch” fears. But yet again — all the CONTROLS are still within the bill.

This deceptive verbiage is extremely deceiving. Our Internet freedoms are still “under government control.” This Internet CHOKE Bill is yet another sham against our First Amendment rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

Already, three different federal judges in three different internet cases have ruled that your access to the internet must be treated the exact same as your freedom of speech and freedom of the press. It is another Barack Obama “power and control grab” OVER YOU!

What would happen if the Far Right would try to use the internet to come against the current administration? Plenty! That’s why we must fax every Member of U.S. Congress to urge them to be against the FCC’s illegitimate power and the Obama Administration’s control over the Internet. Our Founding Forefathers are literally turning over in their graves about YOUR “FREEDOM RECALL” by the Executive Branch.

This Internet Choke Act adversely affects all American patriots’ ability to gain admittance to the onramp to the information superhighway!

I recall the bad news given to us on December 21st, last year, when people were in a holiday spirit, and, quite frankly, were not paying close attention to what was happening in Washington, DC. The FCC ruled 3-2 in favor of binding, new Internet rules and regulations. Our U.S. Congress had 60 days to discuss and rescind that vote. It’s like time stood still — zero… zilch happened!

Mr. Obama and his “puppets” in the FCC still control your access to the information superhighway. But they have no legal right to do so!

Obama wants the power to turn off your access to the internet

Barack Obama, FCC, Homeland Security, and not even the U.S. Congress — has the authorization to CONTROL your entrance to the Internet. According to the U.S. Constitution, NO ONE has the right to CHOKE off your freedom to the Internet. Your free speech MUST not be violated anymore.

That’s why we must fax every single Member of the United States Congress. This is an affront to your freedoms GUARANTEED by the U.S. Constitution!

Have you tried to access the Information Superhighway and had a problem yet? Don’t worry — you will!

If you are like me, in the privacy of my own home, I like to check my emails or look up something on the Internet. But now your privacy has literally been INVADED by the federal government. And we must STOP this from happening via the Internet Choke Act; or Internet Freedom Act of 2011. Tell Congressmen to NOT back this bill. It is a detriment to our society as a whole.

But wait, it is even much more sinister than control! Yes, I said it –sinister!

It is more about “power politics” than about control. Those in power want to help SILENCE those who disagree with them. That’s right. We have learned this from inside sources. When the Tea Party and other grassroots organizations became too big, Barack Obama became exceptionally concerned.

That’s why we must demand our U.S. Congressmen to OPPOSE and STOP this CONTROLLING Internet Choke Act. Mr. Obama’s control over every area of your life is now expanded to your Internet privacy. I sincerely need your assistance today as we fight this battle against government over-reach, federal government control, and invasion of our privacy!

The United States Constitution is literally at stake. Power Controlling Politics and federal bureaucrats cannot invade our privacy on the Internet! Period.

Your concern must be registered today. Please fax and donate.

Sincerely,
Tony Adkins

P. S.   Remember, the Internet is already “FREE.” We must demand that it stays that way, with no new controls. Don’t be deceived by the new wording! The U.S. Constitution and the U.S. Congress never gave the FCC the POWER to possess regulatory authority over the Internet. That makes this act ILLEGAL!
