Apple’s Siri Protocol Cracked and a Siri Parody

Siri is the new, intelligent voice-recognition service deployed on Apple’s iPhone 4S. With it you can ask your iPhone conversational questions, and get back conversational answers. It’s really quite impressive.

Siri is so impressive that an Android “equivalent” (“Iris”)was built in around 8 hours. It’s not nearly as polished as Apple’s, but it’s a start.

But what if you could tap into Apple’s very own servers, and get the real responses. That’d be something. In fact, Apple would be smart to sell the Siri app to Android users and start making some money from the >50% smartphone share that is Android users… but I digress.

SiriThat’s just what has been done (the tapping into Apple’s protocol, not the app thing).

There aren’t any apps that take advantage of this (yet), and even if they come out, Apple’s likely to block them quickly, but it’s cool nonetheless. Unfortunately, the original source outlining the details of the crack has been removed… Perhaps apple sent some goons in black turtle-necks and blue jeans to rough them up a little?

So, since I can’t share that coolness with you, I’ll leave you with this Siri Parody:
